the rapide was the lightest of the Swift range of caravans for that era, it depends on what berth/length it is as they were available from a small 12ft 2-4 berth right upto a 16ft 5 berth. You may stand a chance with the smaller one, especially if your an experianced tower, but I dont think you would manage with anything larger than the 12ft/2berth without a big struggle and compromise in safety.

Celebrating 37 years of Caravanning in 2019, Recently Considered Retiring, but Totally Addicted for Life!
Hi newtent what is the Ford Focus you have? 3 door, 5 door? 1.6tdci?
a 5 door 1.6tdci has a kerb weight of 1357kg, 85% of which is 1153. If the max weight of the caravan is less than 1153 you are within the recommended limits for towing.
A 3 door 1.6tdci has a kerb weight of 1351kg, 85% of which is 1148, so again if the max weight of the caravan is less than 1148 you are within the 85% recommended limit.
The 85% is only a recommendation but it is the figure most people use when working out if the car/caravan are a match.
