Our caravan has an outlet for the waste water on the offside in the middle and then the outlets for the shower and washbasin are at the rear in the middle.
We have only one waste master and it is difficult to get the water from the kitchen sink to flow around and up into the waste master which is at the rear.
We are considering re-routing the kitchen waste pipe to the the rear of the caravan or joining it up with the wash basin waste pipe. Can this be done easily or are there any pitfalls?
My OH did this a couple of years ago, although rerouted from 2 outlets at the rear, to 1 outlet at the offside. (we found it a bit tight on some sites getting to the rear of the van) It all went to plan really easily, couple of joins and new piping and it is still in use now.
My advice would be to re-route the shower & washbasin pipes to the kitchen outlet area so you have two outlets discharging togther in the middle of the caravan offside as does many modern caravans.
You can then also get a waste pipe adapter so you have these two outlets discharging through one pipe into your waste container.
The reasoning behind this is you will be using the kitchen waste pipe more often than the other two pipes and if you park the caravan level you should not have a problem.
All good advice! I have had to do this before, and it all depends on what is in the way ie chassi etc. remember that you do not want waste water to lie in the pipes, so you cant go over obstacles. The sink waste is the most used so it is a good idea to make this the shortest run. Some pipe, a few joints and brackets and you are away!

Hi I carried out this conversion on my caravan I had all three pipes going into a manifold made up of domestic drainpipe and connectors and just one pipe to waste,but if I drained a full sink ,because of the height the water,it came up into the shower not a lot but annoying,I cured this by installing a shut off valve(bought in caravan accessesories)and placed it just under the caravan in the shower drain pipe,it is always switched off unless I want to use the shower ,which is not often Use site mostly.The other alternative is to keep the shower pipe separate and have two drains,I hope this is of some help.
Thanks for some excellent advice and I think re-routing it to the side is the better option. We can then use domestic fittings to combine it into one outlet into the waste master.

It's a good upgrade, the sinks clear quickly and there is only a push fit connection for the wastemaster.

did this myself joined three not hard to do,after it was done you need to make sure your caravan is level or water will filter back up into your shower base and up the plug hole when you pull out the sink plug.my outlet went out at the rear.

It is possible to get a small non return valve to stop the backflow of water. I found one in my plumbing slingit box the other day and can't remember where I got it from but it is going on my shower waste pipe when I get a few minutes to crawl underneath the 'van. Will probably insulate the waste pipes at the same time as I tend to spend a lot of time away in the 'van during the winter months.
