I have an empty gas cylinder, Shell Gas, as part of my recent caravan purchase.

Asked local Calor dealer if he could swap it for a Calor container - No Way, except for a £30 deposit and he was not prepared to take the "old" cylinder.

Local tip also refused to accept (or swap) cylinder - despite there being a cage full of different makes of cylinders in full view.

FloGas internet site led me to a local (Prenton, Wirral) site who passed me onto Chestnut Roofing, also in Prenton who will be happy to exchange Shell cylinder for a Flo Gas one - 4.5gk at £15.99 and 7kg at £19.05.

Job Done !

Flo gas have bought out most of the smaller gas supply people, so when you buy flow gas you can get all sorts of bottles.  The price you have been quoted seem high to me, but I have not bought a refill since last year.  I have used flogas since we started caravanning, mainly because in those days the town was dotted with hardware stores who all stocked flogas.  Unfortunately the harware stores have now gone--victims of B&Q i fear, but still no problem getting gas as builders merchants, garages etc still stock it.  We also have a local depot that also sell LPG for cars. Flogas website will give you a national distribution list.  Flogas were originally a Leicester bases firm, but are nation wide now!  I don't think they do a light weight bottle yet though.
