Hi just a quick q has anybody bought one of the Gas Indicator's the one's u stick on the bottom of yor gas bottle to tell when yor gas is low, just want to know if they work xx Gill
The only gas levels that would really work are the ones with actual things inside the tank(floats ect) to measure the depth of the liquid in the tank, the ones that are able to be fitted to the regulator only measure the pressure of the gas vapour(they may not tell you the amount of gas you have but should be able to tell if you have leaks) The sticky things you mention measure the temp difference on the surface of the bottle when you are taking off the gas, the level of the gas causes the liquid covered area to cool down and they are probably not worth the money you spend on one.
Only ways to give you a better indication is either, buy getting a BP lite bottle they are semi transparent fibreglass, or a calor lite bottle these have gauges on them, other option for caravans/motor homes is the gasglow system, but that's expensive.
------------- If it wont move, try a bigger hammer.
thinking about how I get to know how much gas I have in my bottles, is weigh the bottle, and take the empty weight (normally stamped on the bottle's aluminium disk under the valve) and take that away from the weight you have, that gives you the weight of gas you have, and the weight painted on the bottle, is the total weight of the gas in a full bottle.

I have a system that never fails. Works every time...

I agree they are totally useless. I have a device that works. It is a simple set of scales that sits under the bottle. You move the dial to the weight of the empty bottle(usually painted on the side or top) and the dial then reads directly what weight of gas is left. I have had it a while and cant remember where I got it from but it was probably my local accesory shp(Pedleys). It does work very well.
