Hi Keely, I'm still a tenter but lots of changes going on here and I'm thinking about getting a van. Its a very long story and right now I'm not sure how things will work out.
------------- Tackling life the Western District way
Our van is now all ready for the off as soon as OH sorts holidays - he's changing jobs on Monday back to a permenant one place job so has to start again with holiday entitlement
Hoping to get a couple of days at some point over Easter hols - hopefully with Bob if she go to Southport
Glad you're all having fun caravanning. It's not much different at all is it.
My fav thing is that it doesn't take forever and a day to pack up after your hol when you don't want to go home and it's taking all day to sort everything.
OH says some of the tents have to go Arrrgghhhh!!!!!
The only other thing I've noticed is that the caravanning section isn't as ful lof inane endless chat (but I love it) as the tent section is
Dornafield is a really lovely campsite.........great for beaches and countryside. Are you a member of the national trust, if so visit Coleton Fishacre House which is where the Doyle Cart family lived. Its a beautiful house and estate, great for a picnic, our kids loved it.
The campsite is lovely, you will have a ball.
Well, we first went to Dornafield back in 1997. We had a van (Swift Corvette) then, and kept it there in store so were frequent stayers. My son learned to ride his bike properly there and we made some good friends. Changed over to tents but carried on going there at least a couple of times a year ever since. So I think you could say I like the place.
Both Buttermeadow and Blackrock Copse are great for vans. Buttermeadow is more child oriented imo so BRC should suit you fine. I prefer the dogwalk up there too.
These days I mainly like taking the dog up onto Dartmoor but there is a huge choice of types of places you can go to for a day out.

Wow, looks lovely and it's only about half an hour from home - perfect for a weekend! We love Dartmoor too and go hiking/dog walking there regularly - actually we used to every weekend but work commitments have somewhat curtailed our activities during the past 12 months. That is definitely going to change this year!

A colleague at work also used to keep a van in storage there and used it all the time, he recommended it and I'm glad he did as it looks lovely. I love their site plan :) thanks for your input - sounds like we made a good choice :)

Hadn't you heard of it before searchlighters? I think a visit to dartmoor with the dogs will definately be on the cards.
Ermm, well sort of - I think It has registered somewhere in my subconscious - Dornafield, Dornafield, Dornafield as we've driven past the signs to it at least a million times but not really registering that it may be a great escape. Well thanks to you we now know and will definitely be paying a visit at some point in the very near future
