hi we have/had an elddis firestorm 400/4 2000 and after much deliberation decided to move up and whils on primrose valley last half term hols we saw a few Bailey Rangers and thought the 470 4 series 5 looked ok and have since viewed at Discover Liesure where we live in Darlington it was a 2007 model,we then looked at a swift charisma 565 and nearly went for it but after talking it over decided it was to long and a bit heavier even if it was inside cars towing limit comfortabley, so we have decided to stick to first choice we love the space in end washroom and shower it will help wife and daughter who have dissabilities, and ill remove the top bunk to give that little bit extra width on the bottom at the end of the day we are getting a van 3 years old instead of the swift which was 7 years old i know it all comes down to personal choice at end of day and finances available. i read reviews on here to help as well.

Like you, we were torn between several different vans and our choice came down to between a Swift and Bailey 500/5; both were practically the same spec but the Bailey had the 'lighter' finish and almost 45kgs less weight too.
It is personal choice and I'm sure you'll have many years happy touring.
Hi we have a 2006 470/4 which we bought new it's been an excellent van With no faults apart from the door lock which I fitted with a new barrel for £20 . For us it's just about the perfect van very easy to push about because it's quite light very easy to maintain ( I have serviced it myself from new) I also removed the top bunk assembly to give our son a bit more space but now at 14 he has out grown the bed which isn't a big problem because he sleeps in the awning in a pop up tent and we gained an extra 13 kg on the payload in the process . The big washroom was a the main reason for buying the van in the first place and its had plenty of use as we dont use on site facilities .I hope you have as many happy holidays in your new van as we have had in ours. Phil
Thank you for all replies, cant wait for next year to get away with it, isnt it amazing how much rubbish and clutter you have when you come to empty your old van, i had more tools than daft mick ive told mrs its not all going back in.

I'll chance this in case Phil doesn't see your query...
In our 500/5 (also a 2007) the charger is fitted within a compartment in the electrical consumer unit (fuse box). Find your fuse box (probably under on of the seats), remove the complete cover and the charger is slotted in the top section to vent properly.
hi skiddy, Ive not been on here for a while so only just seen your post as others have said the battery charger is in the consumer unit under the front seat by the heater. i am sure you will have plenty of great holidays in your 470/4 .
