Hi all, We are thinking of joining the camping and caravanning club, but not sure how the site fees work out, looking at the scarborough site high season – adult £ 11.30 each, children £ 6.50 each, does this include EHU or do you add £ 3.55 for a club service pitch? Do you have to pay for awnings? And do you pay for children aged 3 and under? Is it just me or is this starting to look very expensive, many thanks
I'm not a member but that looks pricey. One of the sites I goto is a national trust site and if your a member it's £12 per night!!!
I go away in the vans for good fun and value for money! That sounds ridiculous!
I have only joined yesterday, but the way it looks to me is £22.60 for 2 adults plus £6.50 for 1 child = £29.10. For families with 2 or more children there is the family deal at £ 32.35.
It doesn't seem cheap when you consider there isn't a swimming pool and reviews say that the play area is small.
We stayed at the caravan club site at hillhead, devon last year. For 2 adults and 2 children it would work out at £40 at peak season. Dearer but it did have a swimming pool, a very well laid out play area and pub/restaurant on site.
Club sites seem to mirroring commercial sites with fees.
Children under six camp free on Club Sites year round
Children between six and 17 camp free in low season, when accompanied by an adult
Adult fees are only payable when the child reaches 18.
If you are in the Club and you have two adults and up to four children under the age of 18 (five children if there’s only one adult) and camping on one pitch, can benefit from a Special Family Deal. The actual cost, if you book on line, is sorted out when you arrive.
The fee depends on what kind of pitch you are booking.
A Standard Pitch is a grass pitch only, with no electric hook-ups.
A Service Pitch can take one of three forms:
A grass pitch with an electric hook-up A hardstanding without electric hook-up A hardstanding with electric hook-up
In all cases you will need to pay an extra fee for these facilities.
A Super Service Pitch has hardstanding, electric hook-up, water and waste drainage and occasionally a TV connection as well. You will need to pay more for one of these pitches.
A Jumbo Pitch is a grass pitch for larger tents, where the tent measures more than 5m x 9m. Again, you'll pay a supplement for one, along with the service pitch fee as appropriate
When you get to over 55 and the kids have gone their own way there are better discounts!!!!!

Wow, that has got very expensive for the C&CC site at Scarborough - mind the last time we stayed there in 2006 (i thnk) we were charged £25 for the family deal in high season which i thought at the time was expensive. As said above there are no special facilities!
We are just beginning to consider using their certified sites which are cheaper. Thinkin of trying on next month, i have found some lovely looking sites to try.
I am a member and if it is of assistance I have just gone on line to look at the cost for the first week of August. 2 adults with 2 children under the age of 6, Caravan on a grass pitch with EHU, and a Porch Awning. The nightly charge would be £20.43. Your costs total £26.15, so, if you are a member, you save £5.72 a night. 7 or 8 trips a year and you could be ahead on membership fees of £37 for 2 adults and 2 kids under 18.

C&CC are not the Haven, keep the family tied to the site all day and take as much money off them as you can kind of sites. Lassie, we are talking Scarborough; Dalby Forest; Forge Valley; not far over to Whitby or Flamingo Land and the Steam Trains at Pickering; Castle Howard (usually have an open air concert on there in August - last night of the Proms night); Folk museum at Hutton Le Hole; Eden Camp WW2 Prisoner of war Camp at Malton; and on and on. Not many facilities on site but plenty to keep the kids amused. That's my Tourist Information service over for the day.

My youngest daughter is doing a school trip to Scarborough next month as pert of her Geography GCSE! Lucky her!
Thats the one I went to . Far as I know its the only C&CC site in Scarborough

Mm David got me thinking so went into the site on line again and it is £26.15 per night for the week. Apologies for misleading. Don't know what happened there!

Have a look at the caravan club site in west ayton. In our opinion it is a much better site, and less crowded, better pitches, good play area and a couple of pubs in walking distance,
Not sure if they let non members on but may be worth considering.
------------- Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
2 adults + 2 kids under 5 - Hardstanding with EHU and awning £156.80 or £22.40 per night at West Ayton. These are CC member fees.

Thanks to you all, still not sure about joining C&CC, there seems to be a lot of nice sites in and around scarborough I’m sure we’ll find something, as long as it has toilets, showers & a play area for kids (3 year old & wife) we’ll be happy, we’ll be out & about in the day so will not need to many on site facilities, Phil I’ll have to make a note of the places you mentioned sound interesting thanks for that, was planning on a week but may have to make it longer, Thanks Again.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
