You can take gas bottles on Eurotunnel, up to 47kg in total which means 2 or 3 normal bottles are no problem. They will however pull you over and check that they are turned off. They also say that they should only be 85% full but this in real terms is a full bottle as you buy it anyway.
LPG powered vechcles are banned however.
