there is a keypad above the door you can set a delay time so you dont annoy other happy campers when you open the door on the van.there is a passive infrared sensor on the inside of the caravan which covers the full length of the inside of the van.it has a tow alarm which senses if the electrics are pluged into a socket.it has a tilt sensor and alarm goes off if the hook up lead is disconnected it is easy to use and set up and i bet you can still buy them off a certain auction site
you will sleep well knowing there is an alarm on your van
you will sleep better if there are security posts around it !!!!!!!

On our old van we had Keene electronics dealer alarm. It has the usual infrared internal sensor, hook-up detection and has remote key fobs. Instead of tilt sensor it uses winder sensor on rear steady. It is easy to fit and they are really helpful if you phone them for advice. The alarm works with the van hooked-up to the car in service stations etc.
i fitted ours with a Concept Kel from Keene electronics as well...most insurers wouldnt touch it unless i had an alarm.
easy to do....although takes a bit of time laying the cables, and had to extract the fridge as the alarm speaker/sounder is fitted behind that so that the sound can go out of the vents...easy as i said, just takes a bit of time to do it properly.
includes pir inside, one sensor on a steady, tow sensor if you hookup (or disconnect), if the 12v is disconncted it goes off also (one issue is that if 12v gets low, then it will also go off).
i think it also goes off if the brake lights are activated too.
usefull on the remote also is that it has a button to turn on the outside light!
my only critisim is that the sounder isnt that loud and needs another....just not got round to working out how to do this.
What did you do the last time you heard a car alarm go off?
just thinking that myself.lol.problem is the insurance demands it it place.at this very moment a newish mini outside has its alarm going off and nobody is taking a bit of notice.more annoying than anything.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I have used one of these battery operated PIR's from Aldi or Lidl. - about a tenner or less I think. It certainly works very well and might scare off an intruder with the very loud noise. However it could be ripped off the wall with ease and disarmed by removing the batteries but I'm not prepared to spend a fortune.
It comes with a remote control and can be switched off without going off when you come in.
rune you have good point there re telling everyone what i have...didnt think that one through did i
....although its pretty obvious when you look in the window that there is an alarm as the pir flashes away. i suppose you dont know what it is unless you can find the control panel, which you cant get to on these things without deactivating or sounding the alarm anyhow.
i only fitted ours for insurance...which requires it to be on when it is not on a site. neighbours are pretty good here, so usually get told before i even notice myself that its going off....most probably as it causes a nuisance when it does go off on the rare occaision!
hence i want it louder so I can hear it.

The question is though are there any thieves hanging around to get caught. Nobody taking any notice - you are taking notice and possibly other people peeping out from behind curtains. Thieves don't like drawing attention - it is safer to move on to an unprotected target.
