i have a gas fire which takes a 15 kg blue gas bottle i wolud like to buy a 47 kg caor bottle and run it through a suitable gas pipe to the fire as its cheaper to buy these i am aware that you need to change the regulator but is it safe to do so as the fire states that it must be swiched off at bottle after use i use this in a static so no problems with weight i was going to but the bottle out the back with a 8 m pipe so i was wanting to avoid switching it off at the bottle . i await your helpful answers
You might be better posting this in the static section. I know statics normally have large bottles secured at the rear but don't know the rules on length of hose. Would not be allowed on most sites with a tourer.
You could do what you say no problem & it would work. I think the length of rubber pipe required would be against regs tho, so possibly you would have insurance probs if you are worried about that.
I think the run of rubber pipe is meant to be no more than 1 mtre, longer & you need metal pipe. Some caravan shops will only sell rubber pipe in 1mtre lengths for this reason.
If you don't switch off at the bottle you rely on the the pipe & valve on fire not to leak. What you want to do will work perfectly well but safety wise it would be frowned on.
Hi. Is it one of those mobile fires with the bottle stored inside? If that is the case, I thought you needed the weight of the bottle to keep it stable.
