You know those push button showers on sites which give you 30 microseconds of water before you have to press the button again? Does anyone know of any way to override them?

Just a thought - I find them

Depends on the type and how high they are:

Exposed ones can be tied up with a sock

The non-exposed ones are very often fitted low enough for children/small people to use so it's possible to keep the button depressed with your bum.

I wouldn't advise shaping tiny wedges from matchsticks to jam them open as the wedges could break jamming the valve open constantly.

I'm not sure how green they really are but I do know of some sites that are only heating their hot water to 40º in the name of ecology - except doing this would cause a bigger carbon footprint than heating the water to 80º and mix cooling

Also - I would add that it just slows down the queue. It takes so long to shower. If they just set the timer to 45 seconds say, the throughput would be so much faster.

Hi. Worried about the thought of only heating water to 40C. I know a lot of people at work laugh at the signs on the hot taps saying "Beware . . . Very Hot Water". However, there is a reason for this - any cooler and you can get the ideal breeding temperature for Legionnaires Disease. The combination of that, and a shower hear spraying out in all directions is what led to the original outbreak in America. Keep the hot water hot please.

I don't mind the push buttons, but I dislike it when you have no control over water temperature. Possibly dangerous, I'd say.

I don't have a problem with the push buttons either.

Not sure about the balance of advantage of individual setting of temperature: I'd like it for myself but would worry about an adult with rhino hide leaving it turned up to max and then a young child with more tender skin getting under it next.

If child too young to check temp before showering, they shouldn't be showering without parent's help. And I've been in several of push button showers where the water temp was almost painfully high, with no way of adjusting it.

ive just returned from a site that charged 20p for 5 mins the showers were in a breeze block building but of ample size and quality.

i found that that for myself 5 mins was plenty and my wife and daughters took the 10 min 40p cycle and managed to wash hair and body rinse and still ahve time to stand under the hot running water..and they were power showers just like home that were fully adjustable hot to cold.

so instead of push button showers for free how many would conplain at the cost of 20p-40p ago?

also if you arrived at showers 2 for females 1 for males,and it was being used you would know that you would only be waiting 5 or ten mins max.

I also have no problem with timed showers but I hate having no control over the heat setting. I find most way too hot for me.

Main problem with pay showers is remembering to save the right coins to use them. Not a big problem if you've been on site for a day or so and know what they take - or are told beforehand.
