Hi All
Just got a delivery date for our Elddis 302 (mid November) and plan on picking it up and going straight off on a 200 mile round trip from the dealers to try it out for a few days, providing the weather is not too bad.
This is our first caravan , but not new to camping as we will be tugging it with a camper van. and I've owned a folding camper before.
So what I'm asking is, can any body see a problem with this or would it be more sensible taking it to the storage compound first and checking it out there.
It's to inconvenient to take it home as parking is a problem out side the house.
Thanks in advance

Johnnieboy

Not sure we would be brave enough to do that we usually do a weekend with any new caravan to iron out any teething problems and getting use to it.

If you are a long way from the dealer what about having a couple of nights near them before you set off in case there are any teething problems?

I wouldn't go too far from the dealer. You will be very very lucky if you get a van without some sort of problem.

We had three problems with our van when we collected it. Fortunately we were only 5 miles from the dealer who came out and corrected them. Don't collect it at a weekend either. They don't have any service personel there either.

What are you doing about the practicalities? e.g Loading the van on the dealers foecourt and then checking that you have the correct noseweight?

Make sure the dealer checks the wheel nuts before you set off.

Get to the nearest layby and adjust your mirrors.

Phil

most of the stuff i took out the van is in cornwall stored on site. just the awning and a few bits up here. dont worry i will check everything before it turns a wheel, The mirrors i have are always set as i took them off, they never alter.

Thanks for the replies, my thoughts are that if there is a real issue with something we can always fall back on the campervan and that will have all the kit in it we need. So as long as it tows ok (which I would have thought it would) I can't really see a problem, or maybe I'm being too optimistic
