You say they are rare, but on the original thread many people were posting to say that they had thought they had spotted it, then realised it was just another one.
I would be very cautious about contacting the police based on this siting alone, however I am sure that the member concerned is very grateful for you all keeping an eye out. I know I would be if it was me.
Thank you for your concern. I haven't contacted the police as there is no way of knowing if it was my one. They are becoming more popular, especially since the law change on width. I spotted one on ebay today too, same model year etc but it isn't it either as there were some small differences to the spec.
Thank you again, I am still keeping my eye out although I guess they'll keep it hidden for a bit. I don't know. Whole thing just depresses me now.
Still waiting for the insurance. As far as I am aware they have a window of time where they wait to see if it is recovered before paying out. Usually about six weeks. I don't know what will happen, my policy specifies if it is under 12mths they will replace it with a brand new one the same and if that's not possible with an equivelent agreed by the insured. Only problem, I don't think I want another one. I really don't want to go through this again. It's completely shaken me. We'll see.
It must be terrible what you are going through currently but don't let it put you off touring especially in such a lovely van, I'm sure the good times far outweigh the bad.. Just make sure you are fully insured and maybe fit a VHF tracker next time...

It happened to us, too, about 18 months ago. Insurance company (CC) were very good and we have has our new van about 16 months now. It was a really difficult period, but were were certain from the start that it was not going to stop up caravanning. We had to move to a more secure storeage, but that's fair enough. If it were to go again, we would still replace it. Don't let them put you off, is what I say. Hope it all works out well.
hope you get your insurance and dont be put off caravanning brush yourself off and start again ,dont let theives win, just make sure you are very more aware of how anyone could steal your van again and take every precaution ,you now know where they can take it from and that was hidden, so put it in full view of the house surrounded by security lights and get yourself a jack russell!!!!!!,mine bark at a gust of wind through the night, makes me mad folk think they can just walk off with whats ours, they do but and thats the sad fact of life, dont let it put you off and we are all still looking out for sites of unscrupulous characters and your van, even if you dont get it back they wont have it either

Hi Farmers wife, I work for a large insurance company but with cars, when they do new for old you don't always have to have like for like and if you explain your obvious concerns about having another Hobby I'm sure they will listen.
You may find that once you have tried a Hobby nothing else will do...
I agree and think they are great vans, but I don't want to have to worry about it every minute of the day because some toe rags think they are the best vans to live in 365 days a year but dont want to pay for the priviledge. Worrying everytime I went to our storage to collect it thinking will it be there.
I know all vans are nickable but Hobbys seem to be more sought after.
Once again Farmers wife I really hope there is a happy ending to all of this and we all hope you continue caravaning once its all done and dusted.
We had a look inside this van at the NEC and it is fabulous but I heard one or two others saying how great it was but wouldn't have one because you can't keep them safe which to be honest is how we felt too. But isn't that so annoying that you can't have something because of some lawless scummers - makes my blood boil!
