Since when does a dealer tell the CUSTOMER when they can collect their van after work being done on it.
the only i can collect is tomorrow but they are so busy it has to be friday (today) or next wednesday as they are open late.
BUT i start work at 2.30AM all week and go to bed at 7ish and the last thing i am doing is doing a 60 mile round trip to suit the bl;**dy dealer.
I told him i will collect tomorrow to which he replyed you can't as we are busy and there is paper work to fill in and a barrier to open. I just said see you tomorrow and i will take the van to a local dealer for the service in future and put the phone down.
He has phoned back TELLING me i have to be there before 9 .30 am tomorrow...
If you are able to do it, it might be worth using a mobile engineer. They will come to you and usually at an agreed time. They might be just a little more expensive. (I think one of our local caravan people charge a £10 call out + what they would have done in the workshop). They are going to be limited to fairly small jobs, but they will do a full service this way.
they seam to forget who is the customer.i was once told if i did not pick up by friday they would charge weekend parking/storage.do not go there now.wonder why????the service was C*** anyway.in lancashire then ring
We have this problem, our dealer is an hour's drive each way from us. They do not allow the van to be dropped off or collected over a weekend (and they are a large dealership), has to be on a weekday by prior appointment, It means we lose two days holiday each year just to get the van serviced, my OH only gets three weeks holiday so this is always an issue with us.
With ours you have to book a drop off time and a pick up time. This year we booked way ahead and were able to book a slot on a Saturday in April to drop it off and we picked it up the following Friday lunch time on our way to Norfolk for a long weekend. No problem.
It does seem a bit odd not being able to pick and drop off at the weekends but I personally am happy to book a time otherwise there could be a queue of caravans waiting blocking up all the access roads !
I didnt like this bloke when i took the van in for the warrenty work he tried telling me the tap was not covered under warrenty after the first year. I had to tell him it is covered for THREE YEARS
I think he is new .

hahahahahaha
No wonder they shut a load of branches last year!!
Our caravan is picked up from storage by the local caravan dealer and they service it at their convenience and is then taken back to storage when they have finished.Admitedly they are not a dealer for anyone in particular (ie Lunar) but it saves hubby using his holidays and we have no complaints about them!
We shall be looking for a dealer that provides this service if we buy new or carry on using this company if we change our current van for another used van.
We are lucky to have this facility instead of using up precious holiday entitlement.
My dealer has a scheme whereby service jobs are given a choice of 15 minute "slot" when you can arrive to drop off your van for service on a Saturday morning. I can see that this is because of the very limited area available, there has to be someone organising things or it would degenerate into chaos. They can make arrangements for "one-offs" who cannot fit in for whatever reason.
I turn up, drive straight in and park up, no risk of damage and no hanging about. In and out, no messing, it works for me.
Pleased to see I am not the only one to be 'not messed about with', don't you just love some salesmen and 'so called' service managers.
By the way your GT60 looks new like ours and I think you need to get it serviced at an approved Bailey dealer in future to keep the gaurantee validated so a mobile service is possibly a no no!
