For us it depends on the length of stay - a couple of nights - then no we don't bother with the awning. More than a couple of nights - we would use the porch awning (Kampa Rally 260) especially in autumn/winter as it's is easier to erect/dry etc than the full awning which we would only put up if we were away for at least a week in summer.
