Did anybody else go to the Great Northern Caravan show at Catterick caravans? If so what did you think?
We went with the outlaws and we all thought for a free show (okay more they got their hands on some 2011 vans that they are dealers for early) it was good. There was a rather funky band and plenty of vans to have a gander at. We were esp up for looking at the new Swifts with that stylish black front and window set up.
I have to say that while the Swift looks good outside (imo) inside was less impressive, not bad but nowt that great. I think the cardboard style blind that curves around the new sky light won't last very long and the loss of front locker space has to be taken into account, but I do understand some of the styling and engineering that is less obvious is pretty good and makes it more robust and thermally sound.
I was impressed with the shop/accessories section at Catterick and picked up a new awning with a show discount, so all in all a good day out without overwhelming the Outlaws which the Brum show certainly would.
We are away till saturday but have made a lose arrangement to go
on sunday
-we really like catterick caravans but haven't been since they
Expanded the site so might make the effort.
We saw the new swifts at the lawns a few weeks ago and agree-
They look stunning from the outside-but a few bits inside didn't
Do it for us. We didn't like the plastic piece under the front
window and the outer of the front 3 windows seem to have lost
A lot of viewing space.
Glad you had a good day-looking forward to it now.
P.s hope you can read this as it has been done by phone!
We were going to go on Monday but ended up staying longer at Losehill CC site. The wife had organised some discount card for Monday as well but the charm of Castleton won. Agree on Swifts and saw them at the Lawns. Think other posters have made similar comments on other threads. Catterick Caravans is always worth a visit whether a show is on or not.
I understand that a local rival has been erecting notices directing visitors for the Catterick caravan show to their own site! Cheeky

------------- If you're not on a fell your wasting your feet and for 2014 it's.......Feb Castleton Mar North Yors Moors; Apr Sutton on Sea; May Thirsk; Jun Clapham/Riverside (Lakes); July Wharfedale; August Crakehall; Sept Knaresborough; Oct Wirral Park/Clitheroe
Well to be honest I wouldn't bother going unless you actually want something !
I called in the other day and it seems to be business as usual so not quite sure what was supposed to be involved ?
Thought it was funny that Ropers have put signs out announcing "The Great North East Caravan Show" this way -> (east being the difference!) trying to divert people to there dealership !!!
LOL got to give them it for the cheek !!!
