Hi all i am new to caravaning as just brought a swift charisma 545 5 berth which a mtplm of 1305kgs
i need some help on pay load weights can i add the essential habitation equipment payload to the personal effects pay load of 137kgs to give me a over all amount
also what do they count as essential habitation equipment as it has a 90kgs allowance for this your help would be very gratful as this is doing my head in
The MTPLM is the maximum weight of the caravan everything included, to exceed it would be to break the law.
The MIRO (mass in running order) is the weight of the caravan unloaded but may include any habitation equipment (the handbook should tell you if habitation equipment has been included and what has been included and the weights of each)
Including habitation equipment has just been introduced as mandatory for UK caravan but has been included for European ones for some years
Your best bet is to contact Swift to find out what is included in your habitation equipment weights or failing that weigh your caravan empty of all loose equipment at your local weighbridge
------------- Caravanning is a way of getting a cheap holiday out of an expensive hobby
I would just take the MIRO away from the MTPLM and use the total payload for everything.
The MIRO is the van as it leaves the factory and on a Swift will include the EHU cable, pump if a loose one, maybe the step, spare wheel if original equipment.
The Essential Habitation allowance is generally intended to cover the battery, gas bottles, some fluids.
