We put bricks behind our wheels when the 'van is in storage.  Hubby wedged one in place when we were there yesterday (we haven't used it for a while) when he noticed an 8"x4" spot where there was no tread. The 'van is 3 years old but has had a lot of use but we have never really checked them before.  They are both being changed on Weds.  We understood there was is a 4 year rule so we were lucky.

something is sadly wrong if you have used a set of tyre's in that time.i removed a set at near 7 year old and they were like new to look at.are you sure nobody has swopped wheels on you? or you have left the motormover engaged and rubbed off the tred.

the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

Could also be a wheel bearing starting to seize, I have seen bald spots on car tyres caused from this before. I agree with Michael, it's likely something has caused this.

or if youve been jamming bricks into the wheels as chocks over time you could of damaged the tyre, due to an odd pressure from the brick.

We find it best to buy a pair of specially shaped chocks to put behind your wheels, made from sturdy plastic they are available online or from most caravan shops for around a fiver, they have no sharp edges that may dig into a tyres surface, and are shaped at the bottom to fit snugly under the wheel at ground level, and are of course much lighter weight to carry around with you than a pair of housebricks.
