we are looking into spending about £3000 on our first van, we have tented for a while and think it's time to change but should we look private or trade??

i know we wont get as much for our money going trade but i am a bit scared of buying private is there things to look for to maybe make it easier to by private?

Any tips or what would you do in my situation

I'll probably get shot down for this but I'm a big believer in common sense, you can often tell by the person selling it if they're trying to pass on a turkey.

When you view the van have a good poke about in the corners of the cupboards and behind the seats to look for obvious signs of damp & be wary of anyone who has sprayed it with air freshener before you go.
