500 refers to the approximate body length not including a frame.[5 metres in this case] The 4 refers to the van being a 4 berth.

look it up in the handbook

numbers sometimes refer to the internal dimensions   but not always   eg my vogue 470 is almost correct - it is 4.74 metres    but he swift charisma equivalent is a 5 something       

simple rule  - ignore the numbers    check the handbook - or look at the website
