What's the consensus to travelling with clothes hanging in the wardrobe. In theory there could be handling implications but has anybody actually had a problem? I've read various posts about hangers coming off but nothing on the pros and cons.
Leave ours on the bed and they are still neat when we arrive

We have a roll of that polystyrene pipe lagging stuff and the hangers fit snug over that. Never had a problem since.
Our "caravan clothes" permanently live in the wardrobe (except when removed for wearing or washing - it saves a lot of time and effort packing and repacking

I put stuff in the wardrobe and use pegs to keep the clothes on, I have the odd hanger that falls off but not much. I don't stuff our wardrobe though because it is right at the back of the van and am concerned that it would be too heavy and effect the handling. We are looking at a different layout with a wardrobe near the axle, in this case I would pack as much in as I could !!
With a wardrobe slightly forward of the axle, I don't put as much in as I used to in our last van which was right over the axle so had lots of stuff in it, but most of my good clothes are all hung up for travelling. If you fill most of the rail, then very little ever falls off, if ever. In two years, only two items have ever fallen off, more to do with how the items fit on the hanger than anything else. I do suspect that twin axles have less problem with clothes travelling in the wardrobe.
The rest of the clothes are bagged over the axle, or car top box for putting into top cupboards on site. 3 children need lots of clothes for this weather and we put a couple of pairs of trousers, t's etc and one nights worth of jammies etc in back bedroom lockers for first night in case I can't be bothered unpacking till the next day. It is surprising how much the clothes bagged for a week weighs. I did weigh last month for a fortnights trip and I had two bags of kids clothes weighing almost 40kg between them. Imagine that in the top cupboards, and all ours as well which travelled in the cars top box. Doesn't bear thinking about.
We have found that the caravan is very 'lurchy' with the clothes in the wardrobe (which is at the back) when we set off. When we return most of the clothes are in the dirty linen bag over the axel and the caravan tows much better - no lurching. So now when we set off we lay the clothes on top of the bedding under the front seats and hang then up when we get there. Noseweight is affected I guess.
We use coat hangers that are suspended from metal rings which fit over the wardrobe rail. They're like the ones you often find in hotels are are dead right for use in the caravan.
You can get them from a company called Carasell Direct. Their web address is: www.caraselldirect.com
It all depends on what the clothes weigh. The priority item is weight distribution, so if they weigh more than a few Kg, they need to go in the proper place for noseweight, not the proper place for storage. Otherwise, no problems.
I use plastic coat hangers from Asda, for some reason they rarely fall off (shape of the hook maybe?) I do peg the clothes onto the hanger. That said, I dont take loads of clothes anyway!
