hi all had our first holiday away in our new van and our first caravanning experience since the accident with the swift.
have to say apart from the weather our week was fantastic.we had a couple of issues with things on the site, but a word with the warden and one of them was sorted(the brats on bikes or BOB's as I call them).the other issue was outwith his control although he agreed it was a nuisance.
the fleetwood is more than big enough for our family, and although the bed is a bit on the uncomfy side once its made up,the caravan itself is very comfy well fitted out and tows remarkably well for a bg van.had our awning up as well for the first time and this was heaven for us.
the way home was soured a little by 2 massive queues on the m/way but not anything anyone can do about that i suppose.
roll on our next trip

thing is dave there was a sign saying 5mph speed limit for cars and bikes on the site which was fine.i never broke it once in the car yet these brats were out all day every day zooming about like valentino rossi.
personally i would ban all bikes from being used within site grounds.there are ample cycle routes all round the country for these people wanting to cycle.a caravn site isnt really a suitable place

Ahh thats good to hear that all went well apart from the nuisance's. Our bed was uncomfortable until we put a quilt (with quilt cover on) over it as the bottom sheet and then slept with our heads under the front windows instead of accross the 'van. It's now a lot more comfortable.
Hi fife-bloke, glad to see you got away on your trip, sound like you are very happy with your new van, did you go to your usual site in Forfar or the Loch side site,or some place different. agree about the bikes as they tend to do the slide turn and rip up the grass, fly round the buildings, anyone walking out would'nt stand a chance of being knocked down, should fine the parents the first time, happens again put them off site,no refunds.
------------- If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
If in Doubt Check it Out.
Glad it all went well for you and you are enjoying the new van, we have just hone from a nice weekend, only dampened by the same issue as you, I don't mind children at all I have them, but all weekend zooming past us was kids on bikes going over our pitch, and laying there bikes down on it!!! Final straw was a football to the side of the van, luckily no damage, I know kids will be kids , bit they just run loose, and if you say somthing to them you just get verbal back,I'm not saying mine is a saint lol far from it but I've always tought him boundries and where he can play ect ect and to respect other peopes things, sorry to moan on your thread.
Anyway really glad you had a good time :)

Hi there, glad to hear everything went okay on your holiday, you must have been needing it with everything that has happened in the last few months. The Lake District is lovely, havent caravanned there for about 5 years, still go down but not with the caravan. Hope your little boy is okay after his short stay in hospital.

Hope you manage to time off your work and get away for a long weekend. We won't be able now to get away until the October holiday weekend. Being self employed it isn't always easy, our customers don't know what holidays are by the look of things, they just want their jobs done.
We had the same problem a coupleof weeks ago, kids tearing around on bikes and a couple of them had a 'clacker' thing on the rear wheel so it the bike made lots and lots noise. Could have killed the parents for allowing it. I agree with the OP bikes should be banned from camp sites.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
