have been with Caravanguard for 5 years, but had exactly the same quote from The Caravan Club, every detail is exactly the same, except one,,,,,the caravan club pay £150 a day to pay for caravan or a hotel for a replacement holiday, Caravanguard pay £50 a day, OK which one to go for ????? HELP PLEASE,,,,,who would you plump for ???
------------- wishing everyone,,,,what you would wish for yourselves x
me caravan guard only because i already have insurance with them, and do you have to be a member to get cc insurance if you do thats a slightly higher cost overall.
I have been with the CC for years and see no reason for changing. If there is one difference between them there could be more so it seems a no brainer that if you pay the same but get more from one then that must be the winner. The CC has an excellent reputation for sorting things out when you have a problem.
Damaged our van last time out and Caravan Guard just said to get 1 estimate of our choice, and under £500 to ring them and they would okay there and then, over that amount would need to be assessed. Verbal estimate, £2000 of damage, phoned and they sent their assessor the next day even before we received the written estimate and he asked for the estimate in writing to be forwarded to him. Did so and they contacted the dealer to say go ahead. Parts are in but have to wait for the dealer as he is so busy, and it will take 3 days to do it, so can't be booked in before 15 September. I think that is good service from Caravan Guard and our insurance has just been renewed and they only increased it by £10!
Hi Lozzie. I used to be with saga whenI bought my caravan from new, very similar price to CC but they offered 12 years instead of CC 10 on new for old but I have since changed to Adrian Flux and they have given me the best quote for the last 2 or 3 years now so I 'm sticking with them until a better offer comes along. Hope this helps.
Was with Caravanguard last year but changed to Caravan Club this year. Main reason was that although cost is similar (within £25) my van was manufactured in 2008 but registered with CRIS July 2009, Caravanguard count it as a 2008 van but the Caravan Club count it as 2009 which means it's life for new for old cover is longer.
If you have the time you may find it interesting to get a quote from Lifesure. We have just renewed our insurance and, as we do each year, we got quotes from all of them. Comparing benefits like for like Lifesure was between £50- £100 cheaper than CC, Caravanguard and others. e.g CC would only give us new replacement for a van under three years old whereas Lifesure gave five years. When we asked CC for five years the premium shot up.

I looked at this and was directed to...................................E&L!!!
We were with caravan guard when someone went into the back of our caravan and wrote it off I will admit that they did act quickley and we had the assessor out within a few days, an offer 2 days after and the money within 3weeks of the accident. However when we next had our renewal (by this time we had changed the van) I noticed a hugh increase in price. When queried was told it was because we had made a claim. I confirmed with them that the other party had admitted full resposibility but they said that they don't always claim from the other party's insurance they will sometimes just increase your insurance to reflect the claim
Eventually we agreed that I paid the higher premium and they will claim from 3rd party insurance company and once they receive that money they would refund me the extra that I was paying (about £80).
In total this took approx 50 phone calls and over 7mths to resolve.
So initial service great, after service terrible - hence we are now with CC.
