Avondale Lena Grampian - what do you know about?

Its 1998 model I believe, has anyone owned one?  Are there any common problems?

Does anyone know if the satellite aerial can be taken off so a cover can go on without ripping it?

Thanks in advance

Is an age where with any van you need to be very cautious of moister leaking or having leaked into the structure. Repairing such damage can be very time consuming and so if done professionally very expensive quickly adding up to making the van a commercial write-off.
Avondale were adopters of ABS type plastic fronts and backs, these are prone to develop small stress cracks. Whilst small these are often the route of moisture ingress with as stated above much more significant related problems.
The very good news is that total removal of the "flying saucer" type TV aerial, if that is what you have is very simple. A purpose made blanking cover is sold by the aerial makers [Status] in any good accessory outlet. I say "totally remove" deliberately as it is a near useless TV aerial in many locations a van is used, By far best to junk it and use a directional aerial temporarily clipped to the van side; again these can be obtained cheaply from good dealers.
There is no reason why the van might not be a very good sound van, but its imperative at its age to determine that the example your considering is one of these.
Look painstakingly for any hint of over sealing on any joints; a give-away of past and most likely still present problems.

We had a look at an avondale. but it had a  damp problem

said it had been treated but decided not to buy.

it was about the same age as the one you are looking at.
