I intend to have a Powrtouch 3 mover fitted to our Bailey Bordeaux in October. We will then use it for a week followed by another week in November. It will not then get used again until late March. The van is kept in storage when not in use and when we do use it it is always on EHU. My question is should I be concerned that I only have an 85 amp battery rather than 110 as we dont ever use the van off EHU.

To be on the safe side I would charge just before we went away. Also don't forget that if your van is fitted with an alarm, that it is running on the battery all the time it's enabled.

Our tourer days are over and we have moved on to a Hobby Motorhome
had a Power Touch Mover fitted to our Bailey Pageant for 4.5 years and never had to charge the 85amp battery between use, we also kept it in storage and never had any issues. Up graded to a Bailey Pegasus earlier this year and had a Power Touch Mover fitted to this also, up to now no issues although with the alarm fitted on this one unsure if we will need to start charging between use as dont know how much drain this will be
powrtouch recommend 85 amp battery but obviously 110 amp is better if you have room because they are large and heavy.ours is on EHU for 6 hours a day on a timer.so far no problems with the battery as it maintains 13.5v most times,the caravan will not charge over this.

Hi, If your mover is isolated then it can't drain the battery,same can't be said for any alarm system fitted,if you have spare battery you could use that to change over half way through the storage period,to keep alarm activated,may have to phone tracker company (if one fitted)to let them know that van is not being stolen or broken into.

Mover should use about 30Amps when in use. So 15 minutes use is 30 x 0.25 = 7.5Amp/Hour. You will probably get 2 or 3 hours use from a fully charged battery.
I have a power touch on my Bailey Senator for 3 years now and never had any problems with low battery power and the alarm is run from a built in battery and not from the main battery. We have to charge this built in battery and it is good for 8 months on a full charge. So you would need to check to see if yours is the same.
Thanks I was thinking that it may be worthwhile to remove the battery and put it on charge over the winter. I dont have a charger so I am open to suggestions as to what would be best.

best move i made if you have it at home was to fix a timer into the shed on EHU.this is on for about 6 hours a day just to charge the battery.this it does with good results.a constant 13.5 volts each time its checked.a full battery is unlikely to freeze but a flat one can.plus with the mover fitted it avoids a worry of is it going to work.you could have an 230 v external socket fitted.this must be done by a qualified electrician.
