Hi
Haven't heard anything about Crofton, we were at Harker until recently but have moved to storage at Scaleby, similar prices. We weren't happy about the changes and the new pitch we were alocated
We kept our caravan there a couple of years ago. We only left because we started to keep our caravan at my wife's parents house. We were really happy with the owners and the service they provided. We found it a lot nicer than the one at Harker and could certainly recommend it.

Yes I met the previous owner and he had heard that a lot of people had left the site due to the reduction in the storage area and the increase in the travelling fraternity site. We find it almost impossible to extract our caravan from the pitch that we have had for almost six years due to the close proximity of other units that have been squeezed in. Where is the the site in Scaleby is it a farm or dedicated storage
It is Green Acres Caravan Site with storage facility alongside, it is a lovely little Adults only site. Follow brown sign from "Houghton" crossroads on the A689. I think they have spaces.

Oh now I know where you are I didnt know Green Acres did storage as well. Its funny how you forget all about the local sites when you think of storage.I have past the sign loads of times when going to the garden centre but have never ventured off the main road. I will contact the site and get a quote
We store at Crofton. Can't fault them at all. Phil will wash your van when you drop it off so it is put away clean,. wet awnings can be dried for you, bed linen washed, interior cleaned, services can be carried out there by a local caravan engineer and nothing is too much trouble. All these extras are chargeable of course but for anyone who has nowhere to park their van at home to do these jobs it's a brilliant storage facility. And your van is under cover in a locked building with an alarm which only the owners have access too. When collecting or dropping your van off, you collect or leave it in a secure yard which only customers have an access fob to get into.
They now have a 5 van cl site about a mile away which is very good also. Check their website for more details
thanks for the info, Phil is currently on holiday so I have been dealing via email with him. So dont want to bother him too much.
I can see how the pick up collection points work if you are giving 24hrs notice prior to collection but how does the drop off work especially out of normal hours for example do you have to inform them of the time you are returning the van or do you just drop it off in the secure yard and they put it away next day.
If you are wanting to do some work on the van is there hookup and water facilities available in the secure yard or do you have to take it away, likewise washing facilities can you do that yourself or do you have to ask the owners to do that.
Hi Gowser. You can just go and drop off anytime. They usually get the vans out early morning that are being picked up that day and any that come back are put away in the evening. If you turn late up after he has put them away it will be put away the next morning.
Not sure about hook up and water cos I do all my washing etc at home but there must be something cos Richard Boulton ,caravan engineer does servicing in the big yard next to the house. Whether customers can use them or not I'm not sure but you could ask, the worst he can say is no. Failing that, if you have nowhere at home to do it you are more than welcome to use my drive if it's not too far out of your way. We are near to Morrisons in Carlisle if that's any help.
thanks for that. It sounds like an ideal site. Phil has said to have a look around the facility but as he was on holiday he wouldnt be able to let me into the secure areas. As I work in Wigton a had a look yesterday and was pleased with what I saw.
Thanks for that kind offer to use your facilities, the reason I was asking about the el hook ups etc was as I said with working in the area it would be handy to pop in and do the odd little jobs after work. I live up at the new estate next to Garlands so I dont normally bring the van back for repairs.
There isnt any facilties at the Low Harker site anyway. So I have managed up to now but thanks again for the very kind offer.
I believe there is also a storage site behind a bungalow on Brayton Road, Aspatria anybody any knowledge of that site.

We keep our caravan at Brayton, Aspatria, but I know at the moment he is full.

hi im at storage on peter lane but its basically just a yard ok if ya only wanna pay £200 though
I have noticed that site when I have drove past, you are right you pay for what you get and I thought it looks a bit exposed. Are you paying £200 for that site as I am paying £240 for Low Harker and that WAS a very secure site. Maybe I am out of touch but what are others paying for similar sites.
