As a newbie to this Forum, I'm happy to give an opinion on these two clubs (I've been a member of both for many years).
I haven't found any 'snobbyness' at either of the club's sites. Those who have are perhaps a little too sensitive.
C&CC accept both tents and caravans, CC mainly only take caravans (and camper-vans). Having tents on the site usually means that the toilet blocks are much busier. Sometimes noisier too (often people who aren't 'real' campers will go tenting to try it, they are less likely to invest in a caravan for a weekend. That said, there are quite a few 'staycation' caravanners around now - I suspect there will be a lot of hardly used caravans on the market in a couple of years time).
Generally speaking, CC sites are of a higher standard (there are exceptions) and definitely appear to have more money spent on them.
CC sites tend to have more hard-standings and their pitches tend to be bigger.
C&CC have (to me) an annoying procedure of showing you to your pitch. They see this as an added service. I find it a little patronising. CC tend to let you go find your own pitch and then let them know where you are. We are grown ups, after all.
I have tended to find C&CC staff a bit more 'jobsworths' than CC staff. For example, strictly adhering to the 'no arrivals before 12 noon' rule - no matter how far you've travelled or that you are only 10 minutes early. CC staff tend to be more easy going (although there are definite exceptions to this point).
Both charge around the same for a pitch, depending on location. Being a member typically saves you maybe £5 per night - so you are in front if you go to one of their sites for about a week.
Looking back at this, it would appear that I prefer the Caravan Club. That's probably true, but the C&CC also have some great sites and it does depend where you go and there are no firm rules.
So - join both! - that's what I did. Hope this helps.
