Hi everyone , First weekend away in the van since buying it in october, and all went brilliantly, apart from , my OH trying to open the front end window without undoing the stays and snapped both the brackets ! No probs I've already sorted them , then she snapped off one of the little ring on the blind in the kitchen , OK , I can super glue that back on, hopefully, ( well you know super glue and plastic ,) ,and just to prove it was no fluke she done it again in the lounge , oh well , no big deal . Then the gang turned up to see how we were getting on, and one granddaughter managed to destroy the plastic strip on the threshold of the bathroom, well I would think I could get something for that easy enough, andi ts only held down with three plastic coated nails, but heres the problem, the other granddaughter has pulled one of the lounge blinds right out ,so now it wont roll back up ! can anybody give me any advice ? Oh and I dont mean about bashing them as I already know about that! But those probs apart we had a great weekend , we went to Ninham at Lake here ,I had to go past the camp site to get my van from storage, we stayed here because my daughter is getting married here in a few weeks and I had never been on the campsite, well I've only lived her 35 years and it must be at least 1/2 a mile from home but we had a great time ,and the pool was lovely and warm on saturday when we took the grandkids . AND to top it all off , I got the van back in its place between two others in the storage place first go ! So the CC& C manouvering course paid off ! And thats the bit that pleases me most !
Its great to hear of your success and that you had a nice time.
Like you when we started caravanning and also still now, something always breaks when we go away. At first I used to get upset about it, now I have adopted a diff point of view, and just accept that caravans are fragile...and it can be fixed.
Your blind if the casette type and spring loaded. Just pop the rod out of its side retailer, and using long noise plyers and fingers to turn the black plug, just retension. It gets very tight, so watch out it doesn't unravel on you!.
Once you are satisfied it's coiled tight enough, pop the rod back into it's slot. All done.
Glad you enjoyed your weekend away, Dayz. We enjoyed reading about it. It served as a reminder for me not to let anyone touch the blinds in the van. We did the blind breaking thing too with our first van, some years ago now.
Thanks Chowey , I'll have a look at that , all the rest I've fixed now , just the blind to do , cant be bad !
Ashwell girl I tried to get on at appuldercombe for whitsun , but they only had a few very sloping pitches left and I am not that experienced with the van yet , and any way my wife had got called out on two nights over the w/end , so we went last w/end , or I would have come and said hello, still glad you enjoyed the Island !
