Basically Satellite cable is the same but it has an extra foil shield to reduce signal loss/interference. I would always opt for satellite cable even if using for TV. You can use the same connectors etc

No

I don't know what the technical difference is but they are different.

I suspect somebody can tell us why.

Both cables are the same impedance and on a short run TV coax is ok for satellite use if your desperate, but I'd opt for the higher quality offeredby satellite coax for both sat and TV.
Satellite specific cable offers better shielding from electrical 'noise' plus there are some very naff grades of TV coax which can suffer internal breaks in the inner conductor (don't buy the Tower branded TV cable from the usual 'Super-Sheds').
Satellite receivers also provide a supply voltage to the LNB on the dish of upto 18v - you wouldn't want any dodgy TV coax giving you a problem and shorting out as this will damage the receiver.

The cable you need for Satellite is CT100 Doubled screened, the reason is to stop any bleed over of signal / interference as the signal for sat is 950mhz to 2150mhz. TV/ Radio is 88 mhz to 869mhz.

using standard coax is def a no no ,when you make of ends of coax be sure to wrap in self amalgamating tape as water will run down cable like a hose pipe due to larger honeycomb for low impedence also leave a drip loop where enters van  maplins sell a 25m roll with ends regs mick
