As you avid UKCS's are probably aware (and fed up of by now no doubt!) We're still on the hunt for our very first damp and I do believe I've checked out every website in the land looking for one BUT what I have noticed and what amazes me is the amount of people that dont clean and tidy their vans before putting pictures of it for sale!
Now if it was me I'd be doing all I could to make my pics in an advert look as appealing as possible but it seems that not everyone agrees with me some of the pics posted are just a mess!
On a plus point my lovely FIL has approached a guy who lives down the road about selling his van the van is hardly used so he just asked if maybe they would consider selling!! Not getting my hopes up too much as it could be a) too expensive or b) DAMP!!!

seriously though it does put me off trekking 50 miles to see a van that looks uncared foron pictures!

When we sold our previous van, we had it gleaming. The first person to view it bought it at full asking price, so it is worth making an effort I think.
Most of us would have it spotless & tidy ready for photos & viewing. Personal pride. Know what you mean about it being off-putting. Makes you think if they can't be bothered to clean it, they might not have bothered to maintain it either.

1. Not in the least bit bored...we've all been there done that and still find it fascinating.
2. Thought you had found your first damp...and second damp ...and third..

I think its because some people are clueless, it dosen't occur to them that to get the best price they need to clean & valet caravan, & do a fully descriptive ad with no spelling mistakes & good photos. If you look at ebay listings, the good ones always get the best prices.
I meant very first van !! Have certainly found lots of damp!

Our van is up for sale and advertised in various places with photos.
Type 1 timewaster asks for more photographs, which is fair enough. You send them and here nothing, which again is fair enough. Then about a week later you get another email worded exactly the same, from the same person.
This has happened three times now. Is there a fetish for collecting van photos.
Type 2. Rings up and makes an offer for the van without seeing it!
Type 3. The "we have customers waiting to buy your van" outfits.
Type 4. Make an appointment to view but dont turn up.
Did I mention the emails "would we export to the Ukraine?"
You say buying a decent van is hard enough.
Selling a good one is just as bad!
lol

Rusty I was talking to someone the other day who said exactly the same things except it was Latvians!!
I'm always very honest when I go and visit a van explain that I will not make a decision on the spot but always ring back to say thanks but no thanks.
Is your van a 4 berth and under £3000 by any chance!!

Firstly you are not boring us in any way. As Phil says we have all been there when buying a 2nd hand 'van. You think that you'll never find one but eventually you do. Of course in the mean time you are missing out on this gorgeous weather :(
I like to take a look on ebay and can't believe how dirty and untidy some of them are. The one thing that really gets me is how so many 1/2/3 year old 'vans haven't even been serviced. Why would you spend a fortune on buying new and then not bother to get it serviced thus losing your warrenty!
A 'van that has been well looked after will surely get a better price?
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the Bailey you are seeing today will be the One. Just make sure you come and tell us how you got on!

Do any of you suffer from timewasters?

Rustyfrog. Just keep an eye on ebay...friends had this with a classic car...the folk were using their photos to advertise their less visually appealing car!
