We now have a Motor Home and I need to get rid of my old caravan. No value, just want rid of it. It is in Warton nr Preston / Blackpool. Anyone got any ideas other than dumping it on roadside for Council to collect. They won't take it officially, by the way.
Appreciate any suggestions!
Thanks, Anne
Theres a bit of ali in a caravan so your local scrappies could be interested, I would have thought at least they would take it away & they might even give you a few quid.

Not likely.Ever wondered why travellers leave old ones behind when they move on?Far too much work and mess involved for a few kilo's of ally.

Banger racers are often looking fron old caravans, for racing. Have a look on the internet for banger racing clubs, I`m sure someone would be more than pleased to take it.
I always wondered what people did with old caravans. The storage place we keep ours has quite a few there. In fact the one directly behind us is awful, the windows are all broken and the curtains blow out the window, the door sometimes lies open, but its still there. Obviously the people who own these caravans at the compound will have to pay to keep them there. Its probably easier to pay £140 a year than to think about what they are going to do with them

You'll probably find the owners stop paying the fees, then it's the storage guys problem.
My first donor came from a storage yard. The van owner was well behind with his payments. What I paid for the van didn't cover the cost of the arrears, but it gave the storage guy a space for a paying customer.

Exactly!! I left mine in storage hoping it would disappear somehow! However, I have to remove it now as the owners of the land are changing its use.
It's a huge problem, getting rid!!
Thanks anyway.
Anne
Seriously though, I wrote ours off in an accident. Bent the chassis and the nearside suspension. It was total write off and I took it to the local scrapyard.
Two weeks later, while walking the dog, I found my van back in the village and being used by a local lad.
I have since seen it being towed to local events and used at these events in various guises. How he can tow it in the state that it is in, beats me. It is on occasions like this that I would support an MOT for caravans.

There are caravan only breakers out there.I had to scrap our first caravan through rot and got about £70 for it.It was better than nothing.I would imagine theres got to be a caravan breaker in the Blackpool area.
