What equipment do I need to couple up to a fully serviced pitch?

Is it standard that the water / waste are always at the rear of the pitch?

How do you get the drain for grey water to work? Surely the pipe will just droop?

Do you need to use an aquaroll or is it possible to get a hose with a connector on it to fit into the caravan (on board water pump on my van)?

Sorry if these seem stupid questions but I would really be interested to know.

Buy yourself an Aquaroll Mains Adaptor kit and 20 feet of waste pipe the same diameter as your waste outlet and thats all you need for a serviced pitch

For the Grey water, some have drains on the hardstanding of the pitch and you can position the van pipes directly over if you have side draining at the back. In other cases the grey waste drain is a little further away, e.g. with your water stand pipe. In this case you will need some extension pipe for the grey waste also or continue to use your container and just do the short run to the drain.

Also some also have TV connection points that you will need an aerial extension lead to use if required. some sites will hire these.

Thanks neil and lena - someone at work said you don't need the aquaroll if you have the kind of connector thats on the side of our vans. I just wondered if there is a valve built in to the van. I'm good with electrics but useless with plumbing so I'm sorry if this all seems abvious to you but it isn't to me! I just don't want to flood the van!

Thanks TonyC52 for the info re grey waste. this plumbing stuff is complicated. I had an external aerial socket fitted because I want to use satellite for when we go abroad so I'd be fine with the aerial connections as i have all the adaptors to make it work.

I've got one of the whale mains connectors that fits straight onto the van, great in theory, but not so good in practice.

I tried it at home when I bought it, worked a treat, but then the mains water pressure round here is 5 bar. Onsite last year in Devon, and there wasn't enough pressure, and all I got in the caravan taps was a dribble, and because we'd left the aquaroll at home, we were stuck. Next time I'll get one of those aquaroll adapters, because no matter what the site pressure is for refilling the aquaroll, the carvan will be at the pressure of the submersible pump.

Also, with the direct mains connection, there isn't a valve, so the little plastic pipes inside the caravan are at mains pressure, one loose connection and you've got a flood, another reason for the indirect aquaroll method!

Dave 8588

I can vouch for what Huw says as I brought a whale direct connection for our holiday in Cornwall in August. Was woken up by SWMBO at 6am with a paddling pool in the van. The water pressure had forced the cold water connection to the shower off the connection and had been filling the van quicker than it could drain. I have now checked all of the connections and it was ok for the rest of the holiday so be careful.

Huw / Lee

Many thanks for your input. I have managed to get hold of an adaptor for my water hog. Better safe than sorry I reckon and thanks to you two I'll be saved flooding unless of course SWMBO overdoes it in the shower!

Any ideas how to get the waste pipe to run in a gradual incline from 15inches to ground level in about 10ft so it drains properly waste pipe being flexible and all?
