Does anybody transport their bikes in the caravan. I'm off to Pembrey in July and would like to take the bikes. As I don't have a cycle carrier I will need to put them in the van. Any ideas, tips suggestions please.
Hi tycerdd, we put 2 adult bikes and 2 kids bikes in the van. The 2 big ones lie against the front dinette seats. We have plastic carpet protectors and foam protection for the bed boxes. The 2 small ones rest against the side dinette, with similar protection. They don't usually move at all. Just be aware of your loading. Ours are just forward of the axle and the awning goes over the axle so our noseweight is fine and so is the balance, I reckon, cheers, Alex.
Nae bather tycerdd. I would invest in a few lengths of the pipe insulation. Cut through one side and you can stick them on any bits of the frame, pedals, brakes etc that may mark any part of your van.
Check this thread out here. The stand looks really useful and a great idea for carrying bikes in a caravan. Haven't used on personally but it is on my wishlist!!
I've just had a look at www.carabike.com they look really good. One of the members on here has written on here how pleased they were with them, when they went away. They do look very good, and a great price too.
We put my teenage sons bike in the caravan and wedge it over the axle with over stuff and have never had a problem.... I don't think I would like to have anymore bikes in the van though.
