Not knowing the layout of your van, did you have your heater on and where in relation the the heater is the battery compartment. I have a Senator and the heater backs up to the battery compartment and you might get some heat transfer.

Hi,

My father in law's new Abbey had just this problem, but it first manifested itself by making the fridge stop working, as the voltage was too high, due to a faulty charger.

The battery was hot to the touch and you could hear it fizzing. Just caught in time I think.

A new charging/regulator was installed under warranty and it has been fine since. He did however have to dig his heels in with the dealership to get them to supply a new battery as well, they seemed to think that as the van was supplied without a battery, the repacement was "nothing to do with them"

Hmmmmm.

Careful then if you try a different battery, could be the charging circuit is over volting and could end up damaging the second battery. Best to put a meter on the battery while its hooked up to the mains and charging is set to on.
