picking up my van next week and currently looking to which gas bottle/s to get does anyone use the lite ones either bp or calor? if so do you manage to find stockists when required? and how much more expensive do they work out and also which regulators do they require? on the face of it i cant see a reason not to go for the lighter bottles as thet will help re noseweight

I have the calor lite ones, we got them locally from the local caravan dealer.
We have two in the van incase 1 runs out, and we don't have to pay site prices.

Another vote here for the BP light gas.I use the 10Kg bottle and have succesfully put two in the front of our Burgundy. You will need compatable tails and connector which should be available at most good accessory shops.

I use BP Gas Light , buy it from homebase , here's a handy outlet finder if you run out when away http://lpgas.bpgas.co.uk/cylinder.jsp , we've got a 5kg and 10kg bottle for flexability . Gas light info here . The regulator is a 27mm clip-on type like this One .

We have 2 Calorlites in the van and a spare one at home! We pay between £18 and £18.50 for ours. It is maybe a bit more expensive than old style bottles but being able to take 2 in the front locker far outweighs the small extra cost. And even i can carry a full one! Before we go away we print off a list of stockists in the area in case we need to exchange one. The only time we have had to was in Scarborough and found one with no problems. The only drawback is no stockists in Europe but that is true of all Calor bottles.

We use BP light, the clip on connector is much easier (and IMO safer) than the screw threads of the calorlites for attaching. We have a 10kg and a 5kg and use the little one for gas BBQing and as backup. For travelling abroad, we have a Camping Gaz pigtail as this is available over Europe.
As Wizard says there are loads of places to get BP light and we have never had a problem.
