Hi

We are just going for a second look at an Elldis Wisp 350/2 1992/93 and would like some info. If poss.

The van looks in good condition no visible signs of damp or spongy floors, one of the plastic side windows as a crack in it and would want replacing are these obtainable? and any ideas on cost.

There are no manuals for the van so if any of you kind people out there could help me out with that it would be a great help. The price of the van is £950 which I think is a fair price what do you think!

This is our first caravan we are moving from a TT so any advice would be really appreciated

Some basic info for you , plastic windows can be expensive to replace , ring around caravan breakers and see if you can get one first .
If you let me know ( email below ) what make / model of appliances you have in the caravan i'll try and find the manuals for you , i do have quite a few manuals .

I would recommend you check the caravan with a damp meter .
The area's to check for damp are in the corners , behind seat cushions , in lockers high and low , under / behind seating , around windows , around roof lights , around the door frame ( inside ) , behind the curtains .
Give all wall areas a good firm press with your fingers check over every inch , if there's any softness there's damp beneath .
Go round the caravan with the damp meter and check the areas mentioned above , try to stick the probes in places where the pin holes won't be seen , you should ensure that the damp meter probes are needle sharp , use a small file to sharpen them .
Look for staining on the wall boards , this would mean there has been a leak in the past or it has one now .

Pressing with your fingers is only a very basic check , if you can get hold of a damp meter it would be better , remember the probes must penatrate the wall boad covering .
Not sure price wise , doesn't sound to bad if it's in nice condition .

Tip buy this months Caravan ( magazine )( May ) it comes with a small booklet buying a second hand caravan , there are a few tips in there .
Also have a look here Buying Secondhand
