Currently own a 2003coachman pastiche 460/2 berth, owned for 5 years and paid £3k for it from ebay looked at a sprite major 4 fixed bed, 2013 model today, part ex offer £3k , motor mover swap and 1 year warranty meaning £7795 balance...reasonable deal i think but hoping to screw a new leisure battery out the deal if i can....,but not been in the caravan loop for last couple of years so slightly out of touch.
Thinking about it overnight before coming to a decision .
Any thoughts as to whether this is a decent deal ?
Yep, 100% correct.they will knock £500 off the £10795 for no part ex, but then, i need to get at least £3250 private for my old van to make up the difference to buy a new motor mover to compensate for the loss of the one fitted to the old van.....then its the age old issue of waiting for folk to turn up then the haggling etc etc
Will you get 8k of use out of it over it’s expected life cycle ,or would you be better off keeping a trusted friend ,recently went through this same thought process and kept the one we know
I would agree with The Black Fox, if your current van is sound and not leaking, is it really worth it changing to something that potentially could have problems?
At the end of the day its your decision, but I know what I would do.
Decided to keep what we have in the end...sat in it for an evening and decided it was more comfortable than its potential replacement.
Im a salesmans nightmare as i always go away to ponder any deal.
When I haven't been away in the van for a while (I work abroad so long gaps between trips) I often get to thinking about a new one, then I eventually manage a trip out. Like you Bev+Jon I'll sit there in the evening with a glass of something cold and think "there's nothing in here I want to change". She's a 2011 Unicorn Valencia that we've had from new and we love it. Now a new tow car? that's a different subject altogether!!
Playing Devils Advocate, unless you have already binned off the dealers, theres a fair chance they will ring you to find out whats what. Now is the time to turn the screw - if you wanted a better deal. Done it a few times. Just say the difference is more than you can afford. Many a time they will 'see what they can do', or 'talk to the boss', and come back with a better offer for yours.
