Looking to buy our first lightweight caravan (3 berths if possible) to be towed by honda jazz 1.4 sport which can go to 1000

We have about £1500 in the budget.

Can anyone recommended good makes of lightweight caravan.

At that budget you will need to keep scouring the auctions and free ads etc.

Unlike cars caravans are made in small numbers, so recommending one will be difficult.

There is no best trouble free make. Every van you view needs going over with a good nose and a fine toothed comb.

Have a good smell and check every nook and cranny for damp. Beware sellers that give the unladen weight or just say yeah your car will tow it fine.

I would expect an owner to know how everything works and would avoid anyone that doesnt know where all the switches are etc.

What's the kerbweight of the car? Some models only weigh around 1000kg so you should be looking for a caravan with a max weight of around 850kg.

Search ebay for Freedom caravans. You should get an old one in good nick for that price. Not much more choice in that budget as you don’t really want to be towing any more than 750kg for reasonable towing performance.

Otherwise Rapido folding caravans or you might find a pop top Flurette or Rapido. For any of the caravans mentioned you need to check them very carefully to ensure everything works & be prepared to do diy work on an ongoing basis.

You need to see running an old caravan as a hobby & ongoing project.
