Hi quick question were at the ferry port way to early and want to get i to the caravan for a few hours with the kids its still hitched to our mini bus do we need to unhitch to put the legs down or can we leave it hitched and put legs down sorry if silly question i just dont know lol
TIP - If you put the legs down whilst hitched to the van, lay your winder on the driver's seat to remind you to wind the legs back up again.
Sounds OTT, but it's amazing how an unexpected distraction can cause you to forget to do it.
For same reason, I always lay my breaker bar across my driving seat whenever the motor mover is engaged.

You just put the rear corner steadies down but remember that you will still have a little bounce on the front end where the caravan is hitched to the car so for quickness you can put the jockey wheel down to stabilise the caravan a bit more. The most important thing to remember is to clamp up the jockey wheel as well as the two rear corner steadies before moving off.
i do a lot of still hitched up stopping.. if you try and drive off with back legs still down the racket coming from the back soon lets you know..
if you try and drive off with the mover still engaged basically you cant it just locks the van wheels up solid.. an engaged mover does a far better job of stopping the van from moving than any handbrake does.. he he
i have also tried to drive off with the jockey wheel still down.. the only thing i am not guilty of is trying to drive off with the hitch not properly attached..

its when you want to cook or boil water the legless wobbles can cause problems otherwise there is no need to put them down.. the jockey wheel can also be used raise the front of the van a bit if its a bit nose down..
i treat my van and tow truck like a motor home that comes apart in the middle if i want it to.. mostly it stays hitched up..
