hi petrol head , did you glue yours on or are they drilled and screws, ive been asked to pop one on a roof by glueing it but the roof is a one piece sheet of alloy and a bit conserned that it might damage the roof or come off

Hi Inthenightgarden,

Our panel is screwed onto a mounting bracket/s which is for solar panels ( maplins do them) which has been attached to the roof by Stickaflex or similar.

There is one small hole in the roof sealed by a grommet where the cables gointo the van but thats it.

My Husband fitted it with the help of our local service guy as we hadn't done one before and didn't want to ruin a new van!

Hope that helps. PS it's not likely to come off!

is the stickaflex good stuff then . we was recomended to use it

Apparently so , its what most dealers use to reseal vans too.

'Sikaflex' is the correct spelling - there are various types but I reckon 252 is the one that would be used for this type of application.

It's good stuff

As with any adhesive proper surface preparation and following the manufacturer's application guidelines are essential.
