Just had first service on my car - it cost £240. This service is needed to keep warranty valid. Athough car has an engine etc the van has gas and mains electric so i suppose if you want the safety checks done it takes time and costs £££s. I would never scrimp on servicing your car or van - £200 is alot of cash until you do not bother and the brakes fail, the van starts leaking or worse still, a gas heater/ fridge goes wrong and carbon monoxide enters the van with potentially lethal results. None of us like spending money, but what is your familys safety worth? Alot more that £200 i bet...
Totally agree cant understand why people will spend 10-12-14k on a new van then wine about having to pay to service it . I wonder if they bother to service there cars or just leave things to chance and hope they dont break down
I think they are whining about having to pay £200 to have their brakes inspected & a quick look around the rest of the caravan just to keep their warranties going.

If the dealer is doing the job properly an annual service should take 3-4 hours , I have personally watched my van being serviced (it took 3hrs 20 min) and the work carried out was done to a high standard including full damp check , brakes inspected & adjusted , gas system pressure tested and checked for leaks ,all road lights checked , 240 volt system including sockets checked , Alko coupling hitch and pads cleaned , tyre condition and pressures , 12s & 12n plugs cleaned and sprayed , all window catches and seals checked , full written condition report . I was charged £200 which i think is acceptable considering the level of work and time spent .

Well.....they have 2 choices as I see it.....either have it serviced or dont have it serviced !!
it does seem a lot but if you buy a new van you know it has to be serviced to keep up the warranty.ours is due 6th november (1st one) but we have had loads of warranty work done on it already so im going to hand over my £190-im not taking the chance of anything else going wrong!!!
