I had one fitted in July and its been nothing but bother, the fitter has been out to it and said it was the battery, then something else then something else, I was assured a fitter would be out to me 2 weeks ago again to rewire it or something, I waited in all day, never turned up, phoned, no answer.
Rang the next working day and the bloke said "we turned up" which was a lie as I had been in all day and the time he said I was cleaning our our front porch so would have seen him!
I have rang 3 times since and promised a call back with a new date and have waited and waited and no phone call back
Steer clear, We actually end up having to heave the caravan whilst trying to press the buttons on the mover, and it constantly stalls!
When I have actually managed to talk to someone he tried to blame me for it working incorrectly, Their customer care is apalling, I am going to give them one last shot at fixing ours or they are going to have to take the damn thing off and refund me.
this sounds as if you are talking about our caravan exactly the same happened with us pulling and pushing the van while holding the buttons on the handset. then to be told it was us when we complained
I too made the mistake of getting a Ryhno mover. It has been nothing but trouble and even more trouble trying to get it put right under warranty. When you contact them they have a patronising attitude and can't remember the last appalling excuse they gave you as their story changes every time. They try to blame you for their mover being lacking. I've had time off work for them to put it right and it's getting to be more trouble than it's worth. I'm now considering taking it off and scrapping it, and investing in a Mr Shifta to get my caravan out onto the road. The more established companies will price match these days, so you don't have to take a chance on one of these things. Totally bad experience and a shocking waste of money.

Yep, We too had the same attitude and they swore blind it was something we we're doing, they really got quite patronising
All I can say is keep on at them, In the end I had the MD come out and give us a completely new mover in the end, It still stalls but not as much as before and will actually come on and off our storage pitch now! I still don't trust it though which means we can't really ever bring our van to the house as we live on a fairly steep hill and there is not enough space to swing the car if OH reversed it on.
The whole point of us having the mover was so we could bring the van home but unfortuantely its got to stay at the storage site.
I am more pleased with mover now they have replaced it however it still is no where near as good as some of the other ones I have seen in use, and I really don't trust it, its also really really slow
One of our neighbours has the powertouch and gets his van up our hill and onto his steeped drive without it stalling grrrrrrrrr
I hope you get something sorted soon, Like you say its an awful waste of a helluva lot of cash

The reason they are slow is that the gearing used is 1:60 as opposed to 1:50. This means they are slower but the gearing should cope easier with steep slopes. Our drive is 1 in 5 and the fitter expressed concern that he hadn't seen one used on drives this steep. It copes fine.
Stalling also seems to affect other makes such as powertouch - see this thread.
I would try it on your drive as it would be a shame not to. Does yopur drive slope up to the house or down to it?
HI Brian, It sort of slopes side to side if that makes sense, We are halfway up a hill, Not quite as steep as your drive but still back knackering when pushing a pushchair up it lol) We have 2 drives but one is shared and has the garage at the top, Our idea was to knock the old decrepit garage down and put the van there, Howeever its a really tight angle to get onto the shared drive and you can't do it with the car reversing the van(OH tried it and she nearly took out our fence.) so we needed the mover to go up the hill then swing round to get on the shared drive.
We have a 3 car drive at the front (used to be the front garden) but if we put the van there it takes it all up (as we have to put the van on width ways due to the length of it) and we can't get the cars on and its very visable then for everyone. Also would block the view out the front room window.,
Last time we bought the van back we put it on the front drive but ended up with the mover not working half way across the road and us having to hitch it on the car again, all to the annoyance of the cars waiting to go up the hill.
It was such a nightmare, We regularly have to wait for a couple of minutes while the mover resests itself before it carries on at the storage site, I wouldn't want it to do that half way across our road again.

It seems like it might be a busy road. Our van is quite short and the road is quite wide and not so busy. We only have to block one side while the van turns so I control the van while my wife watches and directs and cars.
The easiest way might be to drive past the entrance so the mover reverses down the slope towards the drive. The length of the van and tightness of the turn will be the deciding factors, but movers go quicker and easier downhill. If the mover is working really hard it will stop for a short time to let the motors cool.
We have actually moved the van to the other drive which isn't so steep. This means we can store the van in a level position, which is much better. It does mean that a small part of the view out of the window is cut off. Neither drive goes down the side of the house.
It might be worth giving it one more go with the new mover.
Rhyno have now been and put my mover right and it is as it should be. So full marks to Rhyno for eventually replacing/repairing parts under warranty. So if it happens to you, just keep phoning. They will put you right, they just drag their feet a bit and have a tendency to believe that the product can't go wrong, so it must be the user that's mucked it up. Whilst this may well be true in many cases, that verdict should be reserved until the item in question has been inspected. Until then, the customer should be given the benefit of any doubt.
I can't comment on the quality or capability of the Rhyno but when I was looking for a new mover for my Abbey the Rhyno guy at the Birmingham show frightened me to death when I asked if there was a cross actuation set I could buy as sometimes I had difficulty getting to the other side of thevan to engage or disengage the roller. He said that I didn't need a crossactuation and that I could safely leave the roller engaged on the wheel until the next time I moved the van! He evevn compared the pressure on the affected tyre from the roller when engaged to the weight of the van on the footprint on the road. Scarey or what!
Anyway Powrtouch got my money and i had the extra electric engagement etc. Super product and super service.

What's so scary?
If the pressure from the roller is no more than that of the van, I cannot see how it would harm the tyre.
Just engage to manoeuvre in, leave on, move out and then disengage. No harm done, time saved and money saved by not having to buy the cross actuator.
Jim.
