I know what you mean, ours lives at the side of our house. If I have an excuse to go out to it, I find the need to lay on the sofa + sleep! theres something lovely about it - its like a little cosy haven. Jane

Its like the smell of grass thats just been cut. That fresh countryside smell. It makes you feel free of all the stresses of life.

Claire - how funny you should post about the 'caravan smell'.  Both of us love the smell in our van - and the strange thing is that the current one smells exactly like the old one!  My youngest son helped me take some stuff up to the van a week or two ago, and he also commented about the smell reminding him of holidays.

I don't agree, though, that you can't smell it whilst you're away.  We can - especially if we've been out for the whole day.  It's a sort of warm, cosy, sweet smell.   Mr Val A now butts in, cynically, and says - 'Perhaps what we're all smelling is just the blue or pink toilet fluid!!!!'.  I like to think not!

Sad though it sounds I love the smell of the blue toilet fluid.  That also reminds me of caravanning as a child (and of caravan accessory shops.  I'm sure they all smell of the blue chemical!).
