I agree that the techlite is a brilliant design, easy to erect and very stable, perhaps it was because the fabric was a bit stiff being the first time we had used it, but it was loud to the point that our neighbours did comment on it and it kept us awake all night, The other little gripe was that its impossible without a great struggle or being over 6ft tall to get it back into its zipped holder in situ, we ended up pulling the bag out of the channel and folding the awning back into it flat on the floor.

We still prefare it to the old fashioned porch awnings with ridgid upright poles, but will try to keep it for fairly calm weather to use more as a sunshade due to its sounds in the breeze unless it softens with wear and becomes quieter.

we have just bought a Sunncamp Ultima 260 and although we havent used it properly yet we found it nice and easy to put up when we took it to the van. My in laws have a sunncamp scenic and we used that the first time we took the van out and it was fab but with 2 kids we needed slightly more space which the ultima gives us.

I would have got the 390 but unfortunatley its too big for our van.

Hello Peeps, well i took the plunge today and went for the outdoor revolution cactalite  250 which seems big enough for us, only worry i have with these type of awnings is the gap either side of the van when it is up, didnt look to bad in the showroom lol,it gets its first outing this week end so we will see how it performs,it seems quite popular amongs us caravaners so cant be that bad..17

don't the material have to get wet then have to knit together to make a weatherproof seal or is that out of date info ??

I think they leak through the stitching 1st time wet. The thread expands and the holes shrink or something and it doesn't leak any more.

We have a Sunncamp Ultima 260 which we absolutely love. Easy to put up, plenty of room for the 2 of  us, it looks good, lots of options for rolling bits up etc.

It can rattle in the wind. Its the material close to the van keeps slapping the van. I peg it so as to open the gap slightly and its then fine. Doesn't leak or anything.

We have a Dorema Porch awning and after staying at Dunnet Bay CC site we are glad this is the type of awning we have and not one of the others everyone is talking about. We ALWAYS need to use the tie down kit, and it has never moved once. All the times we have been there ours is the type of awning used by most people. We had thought about buying a Suncamp as they seem quite popular but have changed our mind and will stick with what we have.
