We also have a Altea 542 UK 2008 model purchased from Campbells last October. It is a wonderful van. When we have seen a caravan dealer on our travels we have had a look to compare what we have and what we paid £8K (new) and what is available at present, and nothing comes close.
We towed to Brighton over the summer without as much as a twitch or wobble. However my wife does like the newer models also, but we wont be changing it for some time yet. The kids also love it for having their own little area. With the large Awning on the available space is massive.
As for camparing to known brands may be the Altea is bit like Ikea on wheels and who needs and oven or grill, when you have a BBQ and a George Forman Grill. We feel teh build quality and space is more admirable in our Adria than any other well known make(s).

In general are people happy with their Adria's? Versus say a more known brand such as the Bailey?
Hi We have had our Adria almost 2 years now and love it, Before that we had 2 baileys kept the 1st 2 yrs and the second 18 months partly due to problems we had with them and always having to take them to the dealers to get fixed. The Adria is the best built van we have had, not had any problems with her at all and I have not seen another van so far on the market I would want to swap her for.
We bought the smallest Altea this summer and are over the moon with it. Found that the shower is small but since most sites have good showers nowadays that isn't a problem.
We are even gouing away in it at the beginning of November, which we have never done in the past. Always put the van away in October.
Devon here we come for a week.
we have had an Adria 542UK since Mar 2006 and are still delighted with it. We love the space, the solid build and the width of the beds. We think they are great value for money.
Hi V,
I am glad you like your new van. I hope we have made the right choice in selling it! We loved the layout as soon as we stepped in it. They are simple but so well made. We have gone for the 542dt. I have had a chance to look round one briefly thanks to Robsonalan but my wife or kids have yet to see one in the flesh. Time will tell if we have made to right choice. Roll on Saturday!
We loved the Altea 542DT at the NEC, within our tow limit and loads of space, kids loved it too, the guy wanted our 'Ethelburt' in exchange but we're not in a position to buy new yet, a couple of years down the line and we may well swap. Hope all those that get one have wonderful holidays!
Tunstallwood, we too are not ready to buy new for a couple of years but wouldn't hesitate to swap for another Adria, but an Adora next time. We have had our Altea 502DK and still love it and can't wait to be away again on Saturday!
We have the Adria Altea 542 UK and would not be without its now. Its just turned one yr old and still looks like new and smells like new, even after all the outings this year. Just getting it ready for its next outing to the wirral CC site for Bonfire night weekend and then a few days over new year.
Have looked at the 542DT with the triple bunks, and think it looks smart. But like the 542 Uk better.
We bought our 2006 model Altea 542UK just over 2 weeks ago and absolutely love it! We had our first trip away in it last weekend to Lickhill caravan site, Stourport on Severn and had a fabulous time.
Despite being 3 years old it still looks like new and it towed beautifully.
Hope you have fun in yours!
We've had a 2009 542dt since January - our first ever van - and been away 5 times so far this year. The van is really good, well built and stands up well to the rigours of three lads and us two.
We've towed it to France and Germany through terrible storms and crosswinds and it was as steady as a rock. A real relief as I was quite concerned about towing a van. We've got the alko stabiliser, I don't know what it is like without one though.
We like the light interior, the larger corner bathroom and the clean lines on the outside. I'm sure it is down to your own preferences, but we like it.
We went to the show at the NEC this year and compared Adrias to all the UK manufacturers and was able to find little fault with the adrias and lots of niggles with some of the UK makers. We've been impressed with build quality and stability and would recommend them as good value vans. Not as plush as some.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
