We sold our folding camper on ebay within 2 hours! I used the classified ads as it was a one off price and no finishing cost. The final fee can be quite high if you use the normal selling method, it would have cost us over £100 in fees if we hadn't used classified ad.  It was very easy, described everything and use "make an offer" facility.
fees on ebay are £8 to list the item and if it sells then its a £19 final value fee no matter how much it sells for.im hazarding a guess you looked at the fees prior to the ad going live and worked out how much it would have been on a usual auction format had it sold at the price you wanted for it(if that makes sense)

I did the advert for a BIN and just before  I clicked to go live it states how much it will cost in final fees.  It wasn't in a special catagory, just the normal one.  Below are the rules for normal catagories copied from ebay.

£600.00 or more

9.9% of the initial £49.99 (£4.95) + 5.9% of the initial £50.00 - £599.99 (£32.45) + 1.9% of the remaining balance of the final selling price.

On a £4,500 listing it works out at £111.50 for the final fees.  If there was a special catagory I didn't find it.  So used the classified at about £15 to list and nothing else to pay.

With regards to the ebay fees they do charge a percentage but up to a max value of £40 as stated here

£0.01 and above

10.0% of the amount of the winning bid, up to a maximum Final Value Fee of £40.00

I am confused as I have listed my van have had one couple view it and three bidders bidding who haven't seen it is that normal??
