Our handbook says not to leave the blinds down for long periods as this will affect the tension of the springs, so when it's in storage we leave them up but cover the upholstery with fleece throws - also handy when we use the van anyway. We do close the roof blinds, but open them before towing.

No one commenting on keeping the upholstery in the van at this time of year then or am I the only one who takes it indoors?
yes we do,keep it in the loft completely covered by quilt covers.refit in march.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I've just gone and put my blinds up after reading my owners handbook cause that's what it recommends.(quote - never fully close blinds when storing or when not in use) But now I've just read that they recommend you leave your blinds down 'quote - to minimise fading of furniture'. Hmmm
It makes sense to me to let the sun warm up your van at the moment. My windows are tinted - do you think that would stop the sun fading my cushions ??
Susie
Hi SusieSu, If in dout take them out, or just cover the cushions and furniture, and leave blinds up. and with conflicting info on blinds from the book, now they say leave them down, I would be inclined to think that someone has come up with an idea to sell more blinds. and they do lose the tention when down for long periods, hence time spent repairing or fitting new ones, and that coud mean less time enjoying the van, and at the cost of new ones you could have a couple of extra nights on site. John.
PS. I do take my cushions out, to dry out, have found they get a little damp with the sleeping, and i can get any maintinence done easier, no coushions to keep moving out of the way.
------------- If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
If in Doubt Check it Out.
I made some cheap fabric blinds (for in storage) for the windows that have no curtains and the large rooflight. I was amazed how much they faded in a short time

We've always removed all the cushions from al our vans when they've been finished with for the season & parked up. We also always leave our blinds up. The natural position for the blind is open due to the tension on the spring & leaving it down would be leaving the spring with its highest level of tension.

Better nip out in a min and open my blinds then, don't want them breaking!
We have left all the seat cushions in the caravan, wasn't sure if thats the right thing to do or they should come out?
I guess it's down to the individual whether or not the upholstery stays in the van or not mzzy, lots of folk we know use the vans all year round so removing it isn't practicle for them. We don't use ours in the cold months because my OH has arthritis & bad weather isn't comfortable for her, so the van is stripped right out when we finish with it.
I just move my cusions from the walls, they all have throws on anyway (3 small kids make such a mess) all blinds left up, they are a pig to re-tension, ive only done 1/2 so far, need to get the others done soon, hope to get away at 1/2 term.
we dont take everything out as we usually use it over the winter, just work commitments mean we havnt been able to get away since novemer, Ive got withdrawl...
