Really it's quite rude to interupt people when they are busy.  I love to have a chat with anyone and everyone but only when they actually have the time to stop and chat.  Though when those people are interuppting us to tell us how good our children are at helping with the setting up and taking down then it is welcomed :)

We wanted to leave our pitch yesterday morning but the people in the 'van beside us wanted to chat, being very polite we stood and chatted but gave a huge sigh of relief when they finally realised that they were holding us up lol.

Though we'd rather have friendly people than unfriendly on site :)

What a friendly lot.

That whooshing noise was the point going over your head.

Don't think so.

The friendly atmosphere on CLs and rally fields is exactly why I despise commercial sites.

For what it's worth, feel free to have a chat to me at any time.

Point is, interrupting people while they are hitching or unhitching is actually unfriendly. You'll delay them at best and could cause them serious problems at worst.

It wasn't as if our neighbour had had no opportunity to chat. We'd been there for a week, and I'd been packing up the awning and caravan all afternoon. If he'd come over and chatted then, he could have helped carry some bags or empty the loo cassette. Now, that would have been truly friendly!

And we English are all well aware that the Welsh are always courteous and cordial to their eastern neighbours at all times...

No it's not. It's being sociable. They are not to know you need absolute silence when you want to concentrate on the complicated process of hitching-up. Try stopping to smell the roses as you go through life.

I had to wonder about the mentality of someone who cannot do such a relatively easy thing as hitch a caravan up and have a conversation at the same time.

Unfortunately, it makes me wonder if they can cope with such things as looking in their mirrors, being aware of other vehicles, looking at their speedometer, watching for pedestrians...Need I go on?

You're clearly much better than me at both driving and hitching. Do you do all the things you mention while using your mobile phone, eating your lunch and watching a DVD, too?

As I said, my missus was actually reversing the car up to the hitch at the time. The car was across the camp site access road. At 7.30pm on a dull night with the light fading and us obviously with a journey ahead of us. How do you like the smell of those roses?
