The fridge, also use the oven at christmas if my oven in the house are all full and I am in a rush.

also our double electric hotplate sometimes, the three tier steamer that goes on the hop when I am making christmas puddings as generally have loads of them to make for other people.

rotary airer if the weather is nice and we have just come back from a trip.

We also use the van as a spare bedroom when people stay over, that way we can have loads of poeple stay, no one has to worry about driving and they are completely self contained

gazmister123, love the idea of using your van as a spare room. If only we had room to store ours at home.

Going back to the idea of using the leisure battery as a source of power and the solar panel to provide the power. I thought we could maybe run the tv/virgin+ box off a fully charged battery for the evening, saving a fortune!

Could possibly get 10hrs from our 150ah battery at 15amps. Great!!

WRONG, just calculated that it costs just 17 pence for a days viewing.

Appliances 250watts = 0.25 Kwh x 5 (hrs of use a day) = 1.25Kwh

1.25Kwh x 13.5 (pence per kilowatt including 5% VAT) = 16.8 pence

Don't think I shall bother now

But, how much do you use in a caravan? TV, fridge, microwave, water and space heaters. Can't be more than a £1 a day surely?

How much do sites charge for EHU, an extra £3-4?

Oh I forgot about that too, we use our fridge as a spare at Christmas , and it's also a spare house if we have guests staying, they can use it and be self contained, it's a handy thing the caravan lol
