I joined the CC when I got the Camplet and have to say I've enjoyed staying on all their sites we went to last year. I'm also a member of C&CC though was thinking if it's worth keeping both. Not used C&CC sites for a few years, the wardens I came across on their sites tended to be very exact on exactly where on the pitch to pitch and there seemed more signs up saying don't do this and that. I do prefer to be pitched with a mixture of units though, I like looking out on fields of different coloured tents aswell as white and tent campers do somehow seem to tend to speak more and smile as you wander past.
The only bad experience i've had on a CC site was at Strid Wood where this woman spent the whole few days we were there staring out of her caravan window at my children playing (no not ball games) then when they got fed up and started smiling and waving at her she made a very rude hand gesture in return!
ps. I definitely wear crocs (virtually all the time at home aswell as on holiday)
suppose it takes all types ,think if you think your better than everyone else, regardless what club your in, you shouldnt do caravanning ,its supposed to be a friendly way to holiday, luckily we havent come across the stuck up types on any site,im sure there are those who think they are the a tad better but we all have skeletons in our cupboards !!!!,look in before you look out and maybe there would be more happy campers .
Im a member of both and always wear my crocs. Whether rallying or on a club site im always scruffy anyway and I do wash my van too unfortunately. I have noticed a pattern though. Everytime I go to a caravan club site I always get at least one telling off from a warden!
Many years ago, before we joined a club, a work friend, with an old Elddis, joined the C.C. on recommendation by another colleague. Our fellow turned up at a C.C. rally, to find that the stewards were seding the "posh2 oufits to the top of the field, and the older units (including my friend) to the bottom end of the field. We started with an old van, so we joined the C&CC. A few years later we also joined the C.C. Finally we dropped out of the C&CC, feeling that being in both clubs was financially wasteful. But the only reason for choosing to stay in the C.C. was because we had our caravan insurance and Green Flag arranged through the C.C. I think that things have levelled out a lot regarding "class distinction", although we have occasionally met the odd stuffed-shirt; which, I suppose, can happen in either club.
I think offish attitudes are a national trend now; not just confined to the camping fraternity. Thats people for you!
..we're only in the CC now(let the C&CC lapse)..but I don't wear Crocs..instead I've just cut down some old wellies,in a Croc(esque) stylie..
..Oh!..got to go now..the warden is shouting to me(...Something about "..the rear corner of my van not being within the required distance of his little white marker post.."?!..what ever that means...?)
Our van is now nearly 19 years old our Car 6 years old, we laugh at those who must have best of both, was on CC site where one guy would tell me his outfit cost this etc but its his hobby etc, each to there own, but our heater works, we are dry, the microwave works, the hot water works etc so is there really any difference.
Staying a CC at densole in OCT i couldnt get gas reg off the warden helped and did it, never had an issue, just find CC clean etc with 2 small kids thats very important.
This summer we are using a CL for 1st time, fingers crossed will be good
Now we have the tent we have cancelled our CC, stayed in the C & CC, saying that though we have camped in the tent on a CC site wearing our crocs and with our pedigree dog!

Came across this light hearted comparison on the two clubs while on another forum over the debate over what the differences are. It made me smile so I thought I would copy and paste it here for you to enjoy!![IMG]http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/forum_images/smiley1.gif" width=25 alt=24>
CC members know that they have joined a club where the older less smart outfits are not really welcome. They know that there are certain standards of behaviour which must be adhered to such as washing your outfit every day and changing for dinner. They own pedigree dogs with names like Julian or Tarquin and their dogs wear neckerchiefs. In the CC wardens allow members to select their own pitches and members know that they are entitled to the best pitch on site, often driving around and around to find it (the best pitch is one where your outfit is posher and newer than the beighbouring one)
C&CC members have joined the Friendly Club and they enjoy being more laid back, eating lentils, knitting rafia and experiencing everyone's kids trooping through your pitch. The wardens for some reason do not trust members to select their pitches and insist on telling you where to go. It's part of the ethos of the C&CC that you do not tell the wardens where to go (however tempting it may be). C&CC members care nothing for the norms of behaviour much loved by the CC and will happily wear flip flops and Tilley hats - on and off the site!. They are not interested in the notion of 'personal space' and love to cluster together in a field in the middle of nowhere doing something without toilets or EHUs called 'rallying'
Some people cannot decide which club to join and join both - poor souls. They can usually be identified by their clothing - flip flops with a shirt and tie; or by their outfits - BMW 5 series with 19" wheels pulling a trailer tent. They often get confused when on CC sites and try to engage others in conversation, of course to no avail. It is very sad to see their puzzled expressions when they are not allowed into sites which are operated on a rule basis and they can often be heard to whine "but it's only a few minutes, let me in" or "she's such a lovely little Doberman, how could you not love it, it only did a little poo". They feel uncomfortable and uncertain when face with hard standings and can't decide exactly where to place the car but they smile as if they are enjoying themselves
Our van has not been cleaned for nearly a year now. Sorry I go away for a holiday if I want to spend the w/end cleaning, I can do that at home (not that that happens either)!!!
Our spaniel lovers water & mud so much we have had to stop putting a neckerchief on him.
As ex wardens/holiday site managers for the C&CC, I love it.We are also DA rallyers and love to cluster in the middle of a field without toilets or EHUs. I don't wear flipflops but do confess to a pair of genuine crocs. Our dog doesn't comply as she is a pedigree westie. Her name is Stitch which she came with when we rescued her. Perhaps she once did belong to a CC member?????
